Durant Daily Democrat Thursday, December 18, 2003 Joe Bullard, 51 Services are pending with Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home for Joe Bullard, 51, Durant, who died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. ============ Durant Daily Democrat Thursday, December 18, 2003 Former mayor, educator dies Joe Bullard served on the Durant City Council from May, 1987 - May, 1995, with terms as vice-mayor, 1987-1988, and mayor from 88-91. ============= Durant Daily Democrat Friday, December 19, 2003 Joe Bullard, 51 A service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Durant High School gymnasium for Joe Bullard, 51, Durant, who died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. The Rev. Rodney Cook will officiate. He was born Wednesday, March 12, 1952, in Durant, to Beovia ‘Happy’ and June (Andis) Bullard, and was a lifelong Durant resident. He married Donna Moss, Nov. 20, 2003, in Durant. He received his masters in Mathematics at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and worked for Durant Public Schools for many years. He was the first administration director at Vision Academy. He was a long-time coach who led the Durant High School football team to the 1979 state championship. He also coached basketball and was a referee for many years. He developed the computer system for Durant High School. He was a school bus driver and loved airplanes. He owned and operated Joe’s Pools. He served on the Durant City Council from May, 1987 to May, 1995 with terms as vice-mayor, 1987-88 and mayor from 1988-1991. He was instrumental in the development of Lake Durant. He was the first manager of the Durant City Pool. His love was his family, friends and all the students. He was of the Church of God Faith. He was preceded in death by his father, and grandparents Neta Bullard and Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Andis. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Calera, with pallbearers Jerry Presley, Jerry Dowling, Gene Lane, Todd Hughes, Jimmy Don Phillips, Dale Perrin, Alvie Nelson, Roy Brown, Doug Flowers, Boyd Lilley, John Jackson, Greg Massey, John Massey, Leonard Morgan, Keith Standford, Russell Pollam, Ron Barnett, Layne Morgan and Kent Pickens. Family hour is 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
