Sunday, August 17, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Gertie Mae Bowers-Sloan Gertie Mae Bowers-Sloan was born Aug. 27, 1903, and died Aug. 12, 2003. Gertie was preceded in death by her mother and father Mr. and Mrs. William Taylor, husbands Guy Bowers and John Sloan; sons Bill and Harl Bowers, Colorado, Pudge Bowers, Durant; daughters Ted Carter, Colbert and Evonne Weger, Denison, Texas; brothers Leaman, Archie and Edmond Taylor, all of Texas, and sisters Thelma Richardson and Fern Harbor. She is survived by sons Andrew Bowers, Arizona, and Dwain Bowers, Oklahoma; daughters Dale Kopplin, Indiana, and Darlene Morton, Texas; sisters Richie Weger, Francis Rice, Mayhew Harrison, LaWanda Hackworth, Marilyn Mitchell and Ida Delashaw. Granny B is survived by grandchildren Barbara Comeaux, Betty Reynolds, Janis Hally, Elaine DeFratus, Eddie Weger, Johnny Weger, Janie Weger, Dennis Weger, Gary Bowers, Cheryl An Abole, Steven, Alan, Mark and Jamie Bowers, Ronnie Linda, Jim and Karen Bowers, Terry and Nicholas Bowers, Vicki Yeats, Doug Kopplin, Sherry Kopplin and Micha Holloway. Granny B also is survived by a great number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bratcher Funeral Home, Denison, Texas, with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Calera. The family will receive friends and relatives 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
