Brooks CANADIAN - Buster B. Brooks, 91, died Sunday, June 15, 1997. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church with Roger Smelser, senior minister, and the Rev. Jimmy A. Robinson, pastor of Abundant Life Assembly of God, officiating. Burial will be at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mr. Brooks was born in Collin County. He worked on several farms and ranches in the Canadian area, and for a time he drove a short-haul freight truck. He worked for High Plains Gas Co. from 1959 until 1970. He was a member of First Christian Church. He married Winnie Mosteller in 1925 at Caddo, Okla. They moved to Hemphill County in 1928 from Caddo, Okla. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997 and a son, Tommy "Sam'' Brooks, in 1973. Survivors include six daughters, Daphine Traywick of Abbeville, La., Connie Hallson of Hay, Wash., Vona Benge of Canadian, Zelda Roberson of Muleshoe, Kay Taylor of Hobart, Okla., and Paulette King of Canadian; a son, Wayne Brooks of Amarillo; 22 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
