Durant Daily Democrat Wednesday, February 25, 2004 Dr. William Bradford, 86 Services are pending with Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home for Dr. William Bradford, 86, Edmond, formerly of Durant, who died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at his residence. ============== Durant Daily Democrat Thursday, February 26, 2004 Dr. William Rankin Bradford Dr. William Rankin Bradford, teacher of love, life and honor passed to be with his heavenly father Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at his home in Edmond, at the age of 86. Through his life he touched and enriched thousands of lives. He is unforgettable, irreplaceable and will be loved for eternity. He was born Nov. 29, 1917 to Grover Cleveland and Laura Rookk Rankin Bradford in Pirtle. He was a graduate of Durant High School, Southeastern State University and Baylor School of Dentistry. He served his country as a Lt. Commander in the Navy during WWII. He married Ferne Edwards Sept. 29, 1941, in Boston, Mass. They settled in Durant where they lived and he practiced dentistry for more than 50 years. He was a member of the American Dental Association, Oklahoma Dental Association and the Rotary Club for more than 50 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Durant where he served as an elder and a deacon. His Rotary Club honored him as a Paul Harris Fellow. He was selected as Outstanding Alumni at SOSU and was appointed to and served on the Board of Regents for Oklahoma Colleges 1973-84, serving as president while on the board. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Mercy Hospital Hospice and Sherry for their loving, compassionate care of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Services will be held Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at 2 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church of Durant. Grandsons will be pallbearers. The Rev. Ross Kirven will perform the services. Family hour will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
