All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Rosewood Cemetery--Achille OK Durant Democrat 15 Nov 2004 LaRoy Claude Brown, 92 LaRoy Claude Brown, 92, of Hendrix passed away Friday evening, Nov. 12, 2004, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. He was born March 5, 1912, in Achille. He was the son of the late Claude W. and Rachel Barnett Brown Goad. He married Nell M. Brown Jan. 8, 1932, at Carpenters Bluff. He attended Achille Schools and was a graduate of Achille High School in 1930. He then attended college at Southeastern Oklahoma Sate University in Durant. He was a member of the Colbert Masonic Lodge No. 8 in Colbert and was a 32nd degree Mason, receiving his 50 year pin in 1999, a 33rd degree from Scottish Rites, a 1952 Guthrie Conservatory. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum at Old Alamo, Phillips, Texas, for 12 years and Cactus Ammonia plant in Dumas, Texas for 13 years. He lived in Bryan County most of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, step-father Garnett Goad, granddaughter Rebecca Wynn, son-in-law James Wynn and brother Eugene Brown. L.C. was a good Christian man and was well versed in the Bible and often posed questions to fellow church members. He could be seen in any Bryan County church: Yarnaby, Hendrix, Prairie View, Achille and Colbert Methodist until his health prevented him from attending. He is survived by his daughter LaNell Wynn of the home; pride and joy of his life, his grandsons, Tommy Wynn, Hendrix, Randall Wynn and wife Lisa, Sherman, Texas, L.C. Wynn and wife Amy, Sherman; great-granddaughters Rebecca Babb and husband Sam, Gautier, Miss., Jordyn Wynn, Venus, Texas, and Lydia Wynn, Sherman; step-grandchildren Paige and Bailey Roush, Sherman; great- granddaughter Savannah Babb and step-great-grandson Anthony Babb, both of Gautier. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Prairie View Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Rosewood Cemetery in Achille with Rev. Jim Parrish officiating and full Masonic rights conducted at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Tommy Wynn, Randall Wynn and L.C, Wynn and Tom Bowen, Dennis Smith, Eddie Cranford, Paul Manning and Pete Nicholas. Honorary pallbearers are Geneva Brown, Jackie McDonald, Sharon Smith, Marjo Taylor, Kay Manning, Henry Bird and Brother Sam Allenbaugh. Family hour will be from 2 - 4 p.m. today at Cunningham's Achille Funeral Home.
