Cox, 68 Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, Durant, for James W. Cox, 68, Durant, who died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, in Durant. Dr. Jimmy Ames and the Rev. Jonny Horner will officiate. Cox was born Feb. 22, 1931 in Bennington to Melvin and Altha (Lawson) Cox. He married Doilless Horner on Dec. 12, 1952 in Earth, Texas. He was a carpenter and had worked for the Bryan County Commission. Cox was a deacon at Faith Assembly of God in Denison, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Durant and Bryan County. Cox was preceded in death by his parents; bothers Preston Cox, Grover Cox and Donald Cox and a sister, Althalene Deason. Family hour is 3-4 p.m. today at Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home, Durant who are handling the arrangements.. Burial will be in Bennington Cemetery with pallbearers ...
