All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Durant Daily Democrat 8 Jan 2005 Lucrecia Adilee (O'Donley) Sallee Claussen, 83 A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Coffey-Murray Funeral Chapel for Lucrecia Adilee (O'Donley) Sallee Claussen, 83, who died Jan. 5, 2005, in Sherman, Texas. She was born Wednesday, Oct. 5, 1921, in Utica to J.A. "Jim" and Nettie (Cross) O'Donley. She married Clarence Sallee in January 1942 in Durant. After his death, she married Robert Claussen in October 1971 in Sherman. She was a member of the Parkside Baptist Church and Woodlawn Country Club in Denison, Texas. She worked at Mead School for many years then moved to Mesquite, Texas, and worked for the Dallas Post Office, retiring in 1972. She then moved to Denison. She was very active in the Denison PTA. When she married Claussen, she became very active in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and held several positions until her health started failing. She was also a member of the Four Seasons Garden Club for years. She was known by most people as "Granny Sallee." She loved helping people and made thousands of yarn-covered clothes hangers for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Helen Kay Sallee; first and second husbands; sister and brother-in-law Anna Mae and J.C. Renshaw; brothers and sister-in-law Randy and Bille Jean O'Donley and Bob O'Donley; brother-in-law Red Callaghan. She is survived by daughter Janice Marshall and husband Talmage, Denison; brother Clarence "Butch" Sallee Jr. and wife Jackie, Goldsboro, N.C.; grandchildren Mark Marshall and wife Beth, Denton, Texas, Kay Lorensen and husband Mike, Denison, Elaine Lewandowski and husband Steve, Fredericktown, Mo., Tracey Davis and husband Dalton, Goldsboro, Shelley Thompson and husband Kevin, Pikeville, N.C., Jason Marshall and wife Micci, Denison; great-grandchildren Chase and Melissa Schindler, Denton, Ashli' Marshall, Dallas, Texas, Kenny Lorensen, Denison, Joey and A.P. Lewandowski, Fredericktown, Jacob, Payton and Luke Marshall, Denison, Lauren and Blake Davis, Goldsboro, Tyler Thompson, Pikeville; sisters Jane Anderson, Durant, Betty Callaghan, Norman, Eyvonne Hunnicutt and husband Eddie, Durant, Sue Ruhl, Durant; sisters-in-law Virginia Durham, New Castle, Lillian Furr, Sherman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery with grandson and grandsons-in-law serving as pallbearers.
