All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Thursday, July 31, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Robert Chumbley, 63 Robert Chumbley, 63, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, died quietly Wednesday, July 30, 2003 in Oklahoma City. Brother Jim Nelson and Pat Rooney will officiate. Robert was born to Charles and Verba Chumbley April 29, 1940 in Whitewright, Texas and grew up in Denison, Texas. He was a talented person with many interests, including hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Robert, a retired banker, worked in the banking business for over 30 years. He served as vice chairman of First National Bank of Oklahoma, a bank holding company, and was a certified public accountant. He was appointed to the Oklahoma Board of Directors of Real Estate Appraisers. Robert was a 32nd degree Mason, a past Master of the Durant Masonic Lodge, and worked with many service organizations. He was a member of the Putnam City Baptist Church. He married Lou Ann (Easter) June 3, 1978, in Bokchito. Robert had many family members and friends whom he greatly valued and loved. He is survived by his wife, Lou Ann, of the Oklahoma City home; daughter Alecia and husband Billy May, Sherman, Texas; son Chuck and wife Vikki, Dallas, Texas; stepson Abe Oliver and wife Debbie, Oklahoma City; and loving grandchildren Stormi and husband Jimmy, Chase, Shanda, Brittney, Shelby, Viktor, Breana and Avery. Robert is also survived by brother Howard and wife Lydia, of Keller Texas; and extended family Mrs. Ora Lee Easter, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Easter, Mr. and Mrs. Gary McIntire, all of Bokchito; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Easter of Ft. Worth, Texas; and numerous aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. He will be missed in many ways by all. The family would like to thank Dr. Aleda Toma and her staff, Integres Hospital and staff, Frontier Hospice and staff for their dedication and continuous kindness. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation Thursday, July 31, from 6-8 p.m. at the chapel of Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home, 223 North Third, Durant. Memorial services will be held Friday, August 1, 11 a.m. at the Dalton-Holmes chapel with burial to follow at th Bokchito cemetery.
