All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Rosewood Cemetery--Achille OK Durant Daily Democrat - 7 Oct 2004 Claude Louin 'Lou' Chambers, 71 A service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Cunningham Funeral Chapel, Achille, for Claude Louin "Lou" Chambers, 71, Achille, who died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at the Texoma Medical Center. Bro. Jim Mitchel will officiate. He was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Blairsville, Ga., to Roy and Bennie Lee Hunt Chambers. He was of the Church of Christ faith and a leader for the Boy Scouts of America for more than 12 years in the Blairsville schools. He was a longtime resident of Grand Prairie, Texas, for more than 34 years and retired from Lockheed Martin in Dallas, Texas, after 33 years, where he was a 3554 Maintenance S.Q. Master Field Electronic technician. He was an Air Force veteran during the Korean War and received Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals. He married Mary Eva Duckworth Dec. 21, 1954, in Achille and was a resident of Achille for the past 10 years. Papa will be loved and missed by all his family. He was preceded by his parents and wife on Feb. 1, 1999. He is survived by sons Lynn Chambers, Achille, Louie Chambers and wife Pam, Red Oak, Texas; daughter Awhawanna Wise and husband Roger, Red Oak; brothers Carlton Chambers, Blairsville, and Sammy Holbrooks, Blairsville; grandchildren Justin and Paige Chambers, Achille, Mandi Smith and husband Kaine, Austin, Texas, Arin Baker and husband Brent, Orlando, Fla., Roger Wise, Red Oak, and Kyle Chambers, Pottsboro, Texas; and great-grandson Mason Baker, Orlando. Burial will be at Rosewood Cemetery, Achille, with pallbearers Brent Baker, Kyle Chambers, Roger Wise, Justin Chambers, Max Vail and Kaine Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Lang, Jackie Melson and Kenney Edwards. Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 3916 of Durant. Family night will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
