All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Durant Daily Democrat 14 Jan 2005 Bessie Cummings, 91 Services for Bessie Cummings, 91, Calera, who passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at her residence will be held Friday, January 14, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev. Charles Loyd will officiate. Bessie was born July 24, 1913, in Old Alison, Oklahoma, to James B. and Katherine (Cook) Andis. Bessie was a lifelong resident and attended school in Bryan County. She married Luther Cummings December 20, 1933, in Durant. Bessie enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening. She was of the Baptist faith. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Luther; son L.B. "Pete" Cummings; parents, James and Katherine; brother Benton Andis and sisters Molly Garner and Rosa Bell Andis. Survivors include her daughter Zona Loyd and her husband Charles of Calera; son Don Cummings of High Ridge, Mo.; grandchildren Randy Loyd, Sherie Groves, Lisa Seay, Angie Cole; great-grandchildren Amanda Loyd, Caroline Loyd, Elizabeth Seay, Michael Cole, Eric Groves, Nick Loyd, Jennifer Loyd; one nephew and numerous nieces. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery with Eddie Ray Loyd, Michael Loyd, Randy Loyd, Randy Groves, Mark King and Erwin Nix serving as pallbearers. There is no family hour scheduled, but the funeral home will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today for viewing. Condolences may be sent to the family at brownsfs@sbcglobal.net.
