All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== July 29, 2003 Daily Durant Democrat Joseph 'Joe' Carr, 83 A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Colbert Cemetery for Joseph 'Joe' Carr, 83, who died Sunday, July 27, 2003, in Colbert. The Rev. Ronnie Harris will officiate. He was born Wednesday, June 23, 2003 [sic] in Atoka to William Allen and Eva Jane (Houston) Carr. He married Dorothy Abbott Feb. 28, 1952, in Lawton. He attended the Colbert First Baptist Church. He was retired from the U.S. Army and served in WWII. He also retired from maintenance at Spring Branch Hospital in Houston, Texas. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominos and watching ballgames. He was preceded in death his parents; wife Oct. 1, 2001; son Michael Joe Carr Oct. 15, 1999; sisters Myrtle Rice and Mildred Roberson, and brothers Billy J., J.V. and Tommy Carr. He is survived by sisters Barbara Thomas, Pottsboro, Texas, Norma Redman, Denison, Texas, Faye Preissinger, Joshua, Texas, and Jean Bruce, Vandalia, Ohio. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry J. Carr, J.D. Thomas, Ed Cole, Dillard Rice, Craig Cole, Eddie Cole, Bill Weaver and Larry Levins. Family hour is 7-8 p.m. today at Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
