Carraway Jr. 1912 - 2005 Robert H. Carraway Jr., 93, a retired journalist, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Episcopal Church. Private entombment: All Saints Columbarium. Visitation: The family will receive friends in DeWolfe Hall afterward. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, his memory may be honored with a gift to the Rotary Club of Fort Worth South, Box 9308, Fort Worth, Texas 76147- 2308, or All Saints Episcopal Church, 5001 Crestline Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Bob was born Aug. 26, 1912, in Caddo, Okla., to Julia Semple and Robert H. Carraway Sr. When he was a boy, the family moved to Mineola, where he attended public schools and later earned a journalism degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He entered World War II in 1941 as a naval officer and served in the South Pacific. He was aboard the battleship USS Missouri on Sept. 2, 1945, to witness the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay. He continued to be active in the Naval Reserve and retired as a commander. After the war, Bob returned to Mineola as publisher of the Mineola Monitor and the Wood County Record. In 1954, he accepted an appointment in Dallas as assistant to the regional director of the Texas-Louisiana postal region and was in charge of public and congressional relations. In 1961, he purchased Quinn Printing Co. in Fort Worth and served as its president until his retirement in 1979. Bob was a longtime Rotarian, a past president of the Rotary Club of Fort Worth South and was named a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and Colonial Country Club and a former member of the Advertising Club of Fort Worth, where he was the 1969 recipient of the Addy Award. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.H. and Julia, and his sister, Margaretta Lowe. Survivors: His wife, Ann K. Carraway of Fort Worth; son, Robert H.
