'Slim' Davis, 86 Services are pending with Coffey-Murray Funeral Home for Arthur "A.C." "Slim" Davis, 86, Durant, who died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at Oak Ridge Manor Nursing Home. ========= Durant Daily-Democrat 18 Dec 2004 Arthur 'Slim' A.C. Davis, 86 A service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Coffey-Murray Funeral Chapel for Arthur "Slim" A.C. Davis, 86, Durant, who died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at Oak Ridge Manor Nursing Home. Rev. Charles Howard will officiate. He was born Saturday, March 9, 1918, in Walters to Johnny William and Minnie Ola (Hampton) Davis. He married Fay Phillips in 1950 in Durant. He was a farmer/rancher. He worked for the City of Durant Water Department for 30 years. He served in the United States Army during World War II and served in the Philippines and Ryukus. He was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. He was in the 95 Infantry Division 383, Infantry Regiment and Antitank Division. He enjoyed gardening, going to auctions and eating at Wright's Drive-In. He also enjoyed sitting on his porch and waving as friends and neighbors who went by. Arthur was a good friend to many people and will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother Homer Davis; and sisters Alice Adams, Francis Petty, Arlene Wilkerson, Marie Wilson and Thelma Smith. He is survived by his sister Martha Lee Conder and husband Clarence, Grandbury, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery with pallbearers Johnny Adams, Mike Lewis, Troy Wilkerson and Keith Powell.
