All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 5 Apr 2002 Vernon Dunn LOCO — Vernon Dunn born March 29, 1918, in Caddo to Nancy and Ed Dunn and died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, after complications from pneumonia. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Helen; a son, Vernon Dunn Jr. and wife Sharon of Loco; daughters and spouses Barbara Kinder and Bob of Sherman, Texas, Carolyn Knight and Deral of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; sisters, Cleo Alexander of Duncan, Laverne Cloughly of Sequin, Texas; brothers L.J. Dunn of DeQueen, Ark., Chester Dunn of Billings, Mont.; grandchildren Jennifer and Patrick Kinder, Steven and David Knight, Perry Beaird; and several great-grandchildren Vernon spent many years in public service; 14 years were spent as Stephens County Commissioner and 18 years as an Oklahoma State Representative. During four of those years as Majority Floor Leader of the House of Representatives. Vernon had a passion for fair play and justice and held firm to his beliefs and convictions. He and Helen were able to devote more time after his retirement to doing what they loved best-raising quarter horses. Family visitation was to be 5-7 p.m. April 5, 2002 in the Dudley Funeral Home in Comanche.
