"Dan" Dansby, 92 Services are pending with Brown's Durant Funeral Home for D.T. Dansby, 92, Durant, who died Thursday, March 2, 2000, in the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. ========== Durant Daily Democrat 5 Mar 2000 D.T. "Dan" Dansby, 92 Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Brown's Funeral Chapel for D.T. "Dan" Dansby, 92, Durant, who died Thursday, March 2, 2000, in the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. The Rev. Bill Peters will officiate. Dansby was born Aug. 11, 1907, to Charlie I. and Hattie B. (Claxton) Dansby in Venus, Texas. He attended school in southern Oklahoma. He farmed in McCurtain County and then moved to Durant where he was involved in remodeling and building houses. His last residence was in Oakridge Manor. He was of the Assembly of God faith. Dansby was well known by the children of Durant as the "chewing gum man" on West Mississippi Street. He enjoyed fishing and telling old stories. Dansby was preceded in death by his parents; 13 brothers and sisters; infant daughter, Virginia Day Dansby; greatgrandchildren, Caleb Phillips and Jessica Dansby, and his first wife, Eula Dansby, and second wife, Lessie (Tignor) Dansby. He is survived by his children, Seletha "Sally" Carter and husband Jim, Las Vegas, Nev., Bill Dansby and wife Betty, Ringold, Rosalie Mitchell and husband Jack, Utica, Truman Dansby and wife Kay, Fort Worth, Texas, Geneva Farrington and husband Sonny, Mead; step-children, Pat, Billy and Evert Tignor, and their children; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear and loved neighbors and friends. Burial will be in Fort Washita Cemetery, with his grandsons and grandsons- in-law serving as pallbearers.
