Jones Memorial Hospital, Sherman, Texas. ============= Durant Daily Democrat Wednesday, January 7, 2004 Connie Darby, 49 Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Williams Catholic Church for Connie Darby, 59, Durant, who died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Wilson N. Jones Memorial Hospital, Sherman, Texas. Father Paul Donovan will officiate. She was born Tuesday, Sept 14, 1954, in Durant, to Billy Jack and Laura Christine (Crowell) Allmon. She grew up in Durant and graduated from Durant High School in 1972, then the USAF Community College. She married Jim Darby Nov. 2, 1973, in San Antonio, Texas. She served in the U.S. Air Force for almost 10 years during the Vietnam War. She worked for Dr. James Carroll, dentist, seven years; Cigna Insurance, Sherman, 10 years; and as an executive secretary for Wilson N. Jones Memorial Hospital three years. She was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church, Durant. She loved painting, arts and crafts, gardening and cooking. She will be remembered most as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and cherished friend. She was preceded in death by her father. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with pallbearers Jim Darby, Marc Darby, Ian Daly, Sam Robinson, Mike Champagne, Robert Daws and honorary pallbearer Jon Peoples. VFW Post No. 3916 will conduct graveside services.
