All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Durant Democrat Samuel Lewis Elliott, 84 A service for Samuel Lewis Elliott, 84, Mead, who passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 10 a.m. in the Brown's Funeral Service Chapel in Durant. ========= Durant Democrat Samuel Lewis Elliott, 84 Services for Samuel Lewis Elliott, 84, of Durant, who passed away Friday, November 19, 2004, will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Durant, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Roy Allen Stagg will officiate. Samuel was born June 23, 1920, in Caddo, Oklahoma, to Marvel Lewis and Lizzie (Powell) Elliott. He was born and raised in Oklahoma. After World War II, he served in the Naval Reserve. Samuel was a school teacher for 35 years. He attended Utica High School and received his master's at the University of Oklahoma. Samuel was married 57 years to Nora Mae Cole. He loved going to Utica reunions every year, golfing and bowling. Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Marvel and Lizzie; his wife, Nora; brothers Hollis Elliott, Tritchue Elliott, Raymond Elliott and Loy Elliott; and sisters Mabel Newton and Maxine Elliott. He is survived by his sisters, Tresa Stagg and Martha Watanabe, both of Mead, Almarie Simpson of Redding, Calif., and Betty Landaker of Bakersfield, Calif.; a stepson, Wayne Hensley of Blacksburg, Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Interment will be in Yukon Cemetery in Yukon, Oklahoma, at 4 p.m. Family hour is November 23, 2004, from 5-7 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Durant.
