All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 29 Apr 1997 Jessie Freeman PORTALES, N.M. - Jessie Freeman, 90, of Amarillo, a former Portales resident, died Monday, April 28, 1997. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Portales Cemetery with Kenneth Broad officiating. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Freeman was born in Durant, Okla., and raised in Oklahoma. She married James E. "Blondie'' Freeman in 1921 at Clinton, Okla. They moved to Elida in 1931 and to Portales in the mid1930s. They made their home in Portales for several years. They then moved to various places in New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma before finally settling in Amarillo. While in Amarillo, Mrs. Freeman worked in photographic studios doing paintings. She lived in Amarillo for nearly 30 years and worked most of that time as a medical records clerk at the Pavilion. She was a member of Central Christian Church. In 1980, Mrs. Freeman returned to Portales. She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years. Her husband died in 1966. Survivors include four nieces and nephews, Billie Jo and Everett Wheeler of Carlsbad, Bob and Doniece Morgan of Clovis, Phyllis and Jim Vardeman of Portales, and Gayle and Bob Stone of Albuquerque.
