Durant Daily Democrat Friday, January 2, 2004 Verna Mae Grant, 82 Services are pending with Coffey-Murray Funeral Home for Verna Mae Grant, 82, Gilmer, Texas, who died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at her residence. ================= Durant Daily Democrat Sunday, January 4, 2004 Verna Grant, 83 A service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Coffey-Murray Chapel for former Durant resident Verna Grant, 83, Gilmer, Texas, who died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Upshur Manor Nursing Home, Gilmer. The Rev. Joe Hocking will officiate. She was born Sunday Dec. 12, 1920, in Villis, Texas, to Herman Green and Renga Mabel (Wallace) Mosley. She married David William Grant, Oct. 13, 1939, in Yuma, Ariz. She was an actress during the 1930s, appearing in movies including ‘Flirt With Fate’ and ‘Far and Away.’ She was of the Baptist faith, and a member of First Baptist Church, Charlie, Texas. She loved music, cooking, sewing and she could out-fish anyone she met. She loved to be with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and brother T. A. Mosley. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Calera, with pallbearers Johnnie Grant, James Grant, Dan Gentry, Dale Grant, Mark Whittman and Bob Cole.
