All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Gethsemane Cemetery--Caddo OK Durant Daily Democrat 18 Jan 2006 Lula 'Granny' Gordon Services celebrating the life of Lula "Granny" Gordon, 90, Caddo, who passed from this life Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at Caddo Nursing Home will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Caddo. Steve Chaffin will officiate. Lula Ray Gordon was born Tuesday, July 20, 1915, in Van Alstyne, Texas, to Robert Marshall and Virgie Hester (McMennany) Morgan. She moved to Caddo with her family and attended Robinson Elementary and Caddo High School. Lula married John W. Gordon Sept. 23, 1933, in Caddo. Lula and her husband John owned and operated Gordon's Grocery and Hardware in Caddo. They operated the business together from 1945 until his death on June 22, 1976. She continued on with the business until 1978. Ms. Gordon was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Caddo. Granny will forever be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and for her Christian life and example. We will never forget her words: "I Love all my kids and I'll see you later." She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robert Marshall and Virgie Hester (McMennany) Morgan, a son, Gary Dale Gordon, great- grandson, Kelly O'Hern, sisters, Stella Starnes, Hattie Morgan, Earlene Morgan and brother, Floyd Morgan and an infant brother Leroy Morgan. Lula is survived by her children, Harold Gordon and wife Margaret of Caddo; Glen Gordon and wife Gwen of Saginaw, Texas; Bonnie O'Hern and husband Roy of Caddo; Velda Stearns and husband Bob of Hurst, Texas; Yvonne Birdsong and husband Delbert of Caddo; Jan Chaffin and husband Steve of Caddo; grandchildren, Brent Gordon and wife Candy, Collin Gordon and wife Monett, Geremy Gordon and wife Melissa, Derek Gordon, Wyatt O'Hern and wife Shari, Mark O'Hern and wife Sherri, Keith Stearns and wife Wynter, David Stearns and wife Melody, Devin Birdsong and wife Kristi, Toby Chaffin, Stacy Taylor and husband Ronnie, Kara Whitington and husband Drew, Shawna Joines and husband Dane, Michelle Knapton and husband Brent, Angie Pond and husband Russell, Darla Phipps and husband Joe, Danna Pierce, Chandra Dixon and husband Cliff, Karen White and husband Donald and Denise Spaniel and husband Johnny; 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild and numerous extended family. Burial will be at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo with the grandsons serving as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene of Caddo P.O.
