All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.html ========================================================================== Fort Worth Star-Telegram 7 Aug 2005 Harold Huddleston Harold Huddleston, 77, went to heaven Friday, Aug. 5, 2005. Memorial service: 7 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Covenant Church, Arlington, with Pastor Mark Killam conducting the time of worship and thanksgiving. Burial: 11:30 a.m. Monday, Mount Hope Cemetery, Anson. Harold was born in Caddo, Okla., and had lived in Arlington since Dec. 28, 1961, when he and Jane Johnson married. He was a graduate of Southeastern (Okla.) College (now University) in Durant, Okla., served in the Army and was an employee of LTV more than 40 years. Harold had been active in a local church since he was a teen, having been taken to church by his mother when he was young. He had a servant's heart and served in several positions in the church. But his passions were prayer, service and evangelism. He was known as a willing handyman even before he retired in 1992, often assisting widows and neighbors. He was a mentor to young people, whether they were single or married, as he taught Sunday classes and weeknight small groups. At one time a new employee Harold was training followed him throughout the workday, thinking he was weird because he always did what was right. Thus, he was affectionately known as "weird Harold." Doing what was right was not limited to his working hours. During his retirement years he volunteered at Mission Arlington, maintaining the vehicles that had been donated, Arlington Life Shelter and the Gideons, in addition to his church. Due to the complications of Pick's disease he had resided at Autumn Leaves in Arlington, an assisted-living home, where the employees gave him extraordinary love and care. Harold was an active member of Grace Covenant Church. Survivors: Wife, Jane; brother, Joe Huddleston of Shreveport, La.; son and his wife, Gary and Dianne Albright of Santa Rosa, Calif.; cousins; and a host of generous and compassionate friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Bryan County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/bryan/bryan.html
