All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Ethel Hunnicutt CHANNING - Ethel Hunnicutt, 91, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, in Canyon. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glendell Smith, former pastor, and the Rev. Royce Mason, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Channing Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Hunnicutt was born May 30, 1910, in Achille, Okla. She had been a Channing resident since 1938. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was the mayor for 19 years. She was the first mayor to seek and receive grants for the township. Her goal was for Channing to continue to have a quality water system. She drove the star rural route for 52 years and was awarded certificates for excellence in service. Her gift of love for family and friends was truly her greatest achievement. She will always be remembered for her wit, wisdom and zest for life. Survivors include a daughter, Mildred Mickey and husband, Bob, of Canyon; a son, Bob Hunnicutt and wife, Nedra, of Channing; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. The family suggests memorials be to Channing Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 1, Channing, TX 79018. The family will be at 700 Greenwood.
