Durant Daily Democrat Monday, February 9, 2004 Lottie ‘Geri’ Hamilton, 99 Services are pending with Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home for Lottie ‘Geri’ Hamilton, 99, Calera, who died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at King’s Daughters and Sons Nursing Home. =========== Durant Daily Democrat Tuesday, February 10, 2004 Lottie ‘Gerri’ Hamilton, 99 Services are pending with Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home for Lottie ‘Gerri’ Hamilton, 99, Calera, who died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at King’s Daughters and Sons Nursing Home in Durant. =========== Durant Daily Democrat Wednesday, February 11, 2004 Lottie Geraldine ‘Geri’ Hamilton In place of a hundredth year birthday celebration will be a celebration of a long and wonderful life for Lottie Geraldine ‘Geri’ Hamilton at Dalton- Holmes Chapel Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at 2 p.m. with Minister Van Newton officiating. Lottie Geraldine ‘Geri’ Hamilton was born Thursday, March 10, 1904, in Okfuskee, Indian Territory, to Joseph Allen and Marama Elizabeth (Shannon) Adams. She passed from this life Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, in Durant, Oklahoma, at the age of 99 years, 10 months and 29 days. At the age of 16, Geri quit school to take care of her mother and younger brother. To support the family she became a telephone operator. She married Jack Hamilton Jan. 22, 1927, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, later having their son, Bob Hamilton. In 1932 they moved to Borger, Texas and had a baby girl in 1934. While in Borger, Geri worked as a stay at home mother and a telephone operator part-time. In 1945 they moved to California and lived there until 1947. From 1947 until 1958 her husbands’ job in construction moved them to Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. In 1958 they moved back to California where Geri worked as a nanny and helped a couple care for their two little girls. Geri and Jack both helped the family operated the White Arizona Mountains Summer Youth Camp for several years. In 1964 they moved to Calera, Oklahoma. She became a member of the Calera Church of Christ. Geri has lived in Calera for 40 years. Her home for the last 6 years was Calera Manor Nursing Home. She had many loving and kind caregivers through these years along with many wonderful friends. She loved crocheting, traveling and caring for children. She was an avid reader and continued to read until two weeks before she passed away. She is preceded in death by her parents; Joseph and Marama Adams and her loving husband, Jack Hamilton on May 20, 1979. Also preceding her in death is a son; Bob Hamilton and grandson Dana Hamilton.
