All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Highland Cemetery--Durant OK Durant Daily Democrat 14 Mar 2005 James 'Jim' Harper, 75 Services for James "Jim" Harper, 75, of Durant, who passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005, in Durant, will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2005, at Calvary Baptist Church. Reverend Darel Bunch will officiate. Jim was born in Durant, September 24, 1929, to Robert Lee Harper and Alice Pearl (Cathey) Harper. He attended Cobb and Durant Schools, graduation from SOSU. Jim served in the Army during the Korean War, completed his service in 1956, and he sold cars from 1965 to when he retired in 1994, with part of that time working for Buddy Spencer Ford in Durant. Jim married Anita Garcia on April 19, 1986, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, was a member of the Kiwanis Club and Calvary Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alice Harper; a son, Randell Harper; brothers, Huston Harper, and Joe Harper; sister, Emma Jean Roper; and brother-in-law, Blandy Gentry. Survivors include his wife, Anita Harper, of the home; son Alan Harper, Duncan; son Howard Harper, Durant; sister Louise Gentry, Durant; sister Sue McCreary and her husband Russell, Waco, Texas; sister Doris Spencer and her husband Buddy, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Lanora Harper, Durant; brother-in-law Pete Guereca, Highland, California; step-sons, Richard Gray, Mesa, Arizona, Russel Gray and wife Kathy, Robert Gray, Ramon Gray and wife Denise, and Roman Gray and wife Cristy, all of Durant; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Family hour will be at the funeral home Sunday, March 13, 2005 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery with step-sons Richard Gray, Russell Gray, Robert Gray, Ramon Gray, Roman Gray and Greg Belcher serving as pall bearers. The family requests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Paving Fund. Condolences may be sent to the family at brownsfs@sbcglobal.net.
