All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Highland Cemetery--Durant OK Durant Daily Democrat 28 Mar 2005 Marshal 'Sonny' Hart, 61 A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Durant for Marshal "Sonny" Hart, 61, Durant, who died Thursday, March 24, 2005, in Sherman, Texas. The Rev. Randy Lewis will officiate. The son of Marshal A. and Tivola (Whitley) Hart II, he was born Monday, Dec. 13, 1943, in Utica. Sonny was of the Baptist faith. He became county commissioner in 1994 and continued serving as commissioner of District No. 3 until his death. He was also a farmer and rancher. Sonny loved to work, but being with his grandkids was his passion. His family was the most important thing in his life. He married Bonnita Williams on June 7, 1963, in Dixon. Preceding him in death were his parents Marshal and "Tots" Hart. Survivors include his wife of the home, sons Brian Hart and wife Kristen, Bokchito, Chris Hart and wife Kelly, Durant; grandsons Alex Hart, Bokchito, Tanner Mize and Treyton Hart, both of Durant; granddaughters Amanda Hart and Alicen Hart, both of Bokchito; brother Bubby Hart and wife Sheri, Utica; sisters Marava Jean Conner and husband George, Allen, Texas, Barbara Pickett and husband James, Utica, Debra Stark and husband David, Durant, and Sandy Converse and husband Frank, Utica; uncle Charlie Hart, Durant, aunt Opal Griffith, Utica, and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Durant with Don L. Payne, Nathan Hart, Doug Stark, Dustin Stark, Eric Converse, Todd Converse, Steve Pickett and Billy Jack Holbert serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the past and present crew of District No. 3. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Blue building fund, 22 Berry St., Durant, Ok. 74701.
