All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Bennington Cemetery--Bennington OK Durant Daily Democrat 23 Feb 2005 Imogene Horner, 71 A service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Bennington, for Imogene Horner, 71, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, in Durant. Rev. Neil O'Donnell will officiate. She was born Tuesday, May 16, 1933, in Bennington to Robert and Lester (Jones) Rich. Imogene married Curt Horner Jan. 15, 1949, in Durant. He passed away May 12, 1983. She was a member of the Bennington First Baptist Church. She was well known for her cooking, especially her fried pies, coconut pies and chocolate cake. She was always ready to feed anyone who entered her home a good meal and lots of it. She cooked three meals a day for her family, hay hands, nieces and nephews or anyone else who happened to be there. Imogene loved to quilt and sew. She made beautiful showcase quilts. Jeanie was especially proud of the wedding dress that "Mama" made. She was always willing to help and do for others. She would open her home to family member and share expenses until they were able to get their own place. She spent many, many, hours baby-sitting nieces and nephews and later grandchildren. When she didn't have family children to care for, she started keeping foster children. After years of keeping foster children she started as a provider until her health declined; even when she reached the point of going into the nursing home, she always found someone in worse shape than her to help. She is survived by son Monte Horner and wife Brenda, Bokchito; daughters Cleta Davis and husband Stanley, Boswell, Jeanie (Horner) Bunch, Bennington; sisters Betty Sue Horner, Bennington, Peggy Smith, Bokchito, Lucy Rich, Bokchito; brother Joe Rich and wife Sue, Garland, Texas; grandchildren Brian Davis and wife Heather, Bartlesville, Lori Davis, McAlester, Andrew Bunch, Bennington, Ashley Bunch, Bennington; and great- grandchildren Hadley Davis, Bartlesville, and Briley Davis, Bartlesville. Mrs. Horner was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Juanita Lowry. Burial will be in Bennington Cemetery with pallbearers Clent Horner, Scott Horner, Dave Horner, Glenn Horner, David Horner, Joe Franklin and Robert Harrell. Family hour will be from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
