Johns, 93, of Canyon and formerly of Bonham, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church in Bonham with the Rev. Alan Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Willow Wild Cemetery by Wise Funeral Home of Bonham. Mr. Johns was born in Staunton, Va., and moved to Canyon in 1908. She received her bachelor of art degree in 1929 and master of art degree in 1950, both from West Texas State University. She then studied art in Taos, N.M., the School of Art in Cloudcroft, N.M., in Dallas and at the Art Academy in Munich, Germany. In 1971, she retired after 42 years of teaching art and science at Bailey Inglish and I.W. Evans in Bonham. Among the awards she received was the Excellence in Teaching award in 1966-67 from the state of Texas and given by the National Instructor Magazine. Mrs. Johns was member of First Presbyterian Church of Bonham. She moved to Canyon in 1994. She married Carrol Wesley "Buster" Johns in 1931 at Durant, Okla. He died in 1989. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Ransom of Canyon. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday in Wise Funeral Home. They suggest memorials be to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 818 N. Main, Bonham, TX 75418; or a favorite charity.
