Durant Daily Democrat Thursday, December 11, 2003 Alton Hix Long, 82 Services are pending with Coffey-Murray Funeral Home for Alton Hix Long, 82, Durant, who died today at his residence. ========= Durant Daily Democrat Sunday, December 14, 2003 Alton H. Long, 82 A service will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church for Alton H. Long, 82, Durant, who died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, in Durant. The Rev. James Robinson will officiate. The son of Alonzo and Eula Mae (Evans) Long, he was born Thursday, Jan. 7, 1921, in Altus. Mr. Long was a member of the First Baptist Church in Durant, served in the army as a military policeman and was in automobile sales. He loved to fish, water ski and spend winters in south Texas. He married Alyce VanCleave May 24, 1947, in Denver, Colo. Preceding him in death were his parents, an infant son, five sisters and two brothers. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with C.W. Towne, Melvin Garner, Edward Ward, C.J. Stubblefield, Johnny Betts, Bob Rickey, Bob Graham and Ronnie Graham serving as pallbearers. Family hour is 3-4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
