Lemons MEMPHIS - Beth Minette Moreland Lemons, 89, died Tuesday, March 3, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Taylor, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Spicer Funeral Home. Mrs. Lemons was born in Bokchito, Okla. She attended school in Durant, Okla., and began her studies in education at Southeastern University. She later studied at North Texas State University and earned her degree from West Texas State University. She moved to Memphis in 1928 to teach. She taught English in the Memphis schools for 30 years. Mrs. Lemons was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, the Friendship Class, the Victory Class, the Fidelis Fellowship and the Women's Bible Study. She also was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, the 1913 Study Club and the Retired Teachers Association. After she retired from teaching, she purchased her interest in her Choctaw Indian Heritage and presented many programs to local clubs. Mrs. Lemons was named Mother of the Year in 1963. She married Robert Clifford "Sug" Lemons in 1930. He died 1980. Survivors include a son, John Lemons of Canyon; four daughters, Betty Lemons Pelfrey of Canyon, Judy Lemons Davidson of McAllen, Mary Ann Lemons of Amarillo and Bobbie Lemons True of Beaumont; four sisters, Mrs. Tom Miller, Mrs. George Haire and Mrs. Ann Newell, all of Dallas, and Mrs. M.D. Jordan of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren.
