All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Durant Daily Democrat 1 Jan 2005 Ken Mahaffey Ken Mahaffey lost his long battle with chronic lymphomic leukemia on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, following surgery due to resulting complications. A funeral service was today at First United Methodist Church in Hurst, Texas. Burial will be in Bokchito Cemetery, Bokchito. Ken was a native Texan, born in Dallas. During his 58 years he lived in several cities throughout the state. He currently lived in Keller, Texas, with his wife, Rena, and his cats. He graduated from high school in Waco, Texas, served in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant and attended Tarleton State University and the University of Texas at Arlington. He worked in the insurance field for many years, currently operating an agency in Bedford, Texas, for Allstate. Ken loved the outdoors and was very active in numerous activities until leukemia limited his ability to participate as much as he would have liked. Although golfing was his passion, he enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, cycling and fishing, especially fly fishing, one of his latest accomplishments. Other favorites included hiking in Colorado, white water rafting and anything that included enjoying nature's simple pleasures. He is survivored by his wife of 33 years, Rena Mahaffey; parents Will and Wanda Mahaffey of Hurst; brother Terry Mahaffey of San Francisco, Calif.; and extended family members, including aunts, uncles, several cousins, brother-in-law, his wife's parents and many, many friends. Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, Colleyville, Texas, is handling the arrangements.
