All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Durant Democrat Cecil McGehee Cecil McGehee, of Calera, was born Tuesday, Oct. 9, 1917, at Blue, the youngest child of William Andrew McGehee and Julia Hill McGee. He passed from this life on Nov. 19, 2004, in Durant at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 10 days. Mr. McGehee was a retired grocer and a retired Southern Baptist minister. Some of the churches he pastored were in Bushnell, Achille, Platter, Blue, Kenefic and Grace Baptist Church in Durant. He married Hazel Ruth Rains on Aug. 10, 1940. She preceded him death in 1997. He was a member of Bushnell Baptist Church, a veteran of World War II and a member of the Calera Masonic Lodge. Mr. McGehee is survived by three sons: Phil McGehee and wife Susie, of Poteau, Kim McGehee and wife Teresa, of Durant, and Mark McGehee of Golden. He is also survived by five grandchildren: David McGehee, of Van Buren, Ark., Kacy McGehee, of Poteau, Amy Dalke, of Houston, Texas, and Julie Williams and Ashley McGehee, both of Poteau. Services will be held Monday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Calera, with Mr. McGehee's three sons officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera. Pallbearers will be David McGehee, Donnie Williams, Larry Dalke, Troy McGehee, Roy McGehee and Sam Guess. Family night will be from 5-7 p.m. today. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Baptist Children's Homes of Oklahoma. V.F.W. Post No. 3916 will perform military graveside rites.
