All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Thursday, July 31, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Kenneth Medell, 74 Kenneth Medell, 74, Lansing, Mich., went to be with his Lord Tuesday, July 29, 2003, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born in Waureka January 12, 1929, and always spoke fondly of his boyhood days, even though times were hard. He served his country during the Korean War from 1948-1950. Upon his discharge, he worked in oil fields from southeastern New Mexico and west Texas to northern Michigan, in a career that spanned four decades. He had a love of the land and took pride in how animals and plants could grow from proper care and nurturing. Even after he retired, he took pride in his beautiful flower gardens surrounding his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Elvia Medell and brother Richard Medell. Surviving are his wife Mary Medell; children Tammy 'Sid' Allen, Longview, Texas; Kenneth and wife Susan (Terrell) Medell, Kalkaska, Mich., and Greg and wife Christine (Martindale) Medell, Grand Haven, Mich.; sisters Mary Lou Speer of Bennington, Ruth Hannon and Yvonne Harmon, both of Calera, and Laverne White of Durant; step children Sandra, Candace and David Cranfill and Deborah Griffin, all of Mason, Mich.; and 19 grandchildren and step grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel. Burial will take place in Oklahoma at a later date. ========= Wednesday, November 5, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Kenneth Lee Medell The ashes of Kenneth Lee Medell, who died in Lansing, Mich., July 29, 2003, will be laid to rest in his hometown at 11 a.m. Saturday. A memorial service will be held at Bennington Cemetery. The Rev. Mervin Redwin will officiate. A luncheon will be served at Bennington’s Old Presbyterian Church fellowship hall north of Bennington following the service. ============= Thursday, November 6, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Kenneth Lee Medell Kenneth Medell, 74, will be laid to rest in his hometown of Bennington. He died July 29, 2003, in Lansing, Michigan. A memorial service will be held at Bennington Cemetery at 11 a.m., Saturday. The Rev. Mervin Redwin will officiate.
