Durant Daily Democrat Monday, February 23, 2004 Opal Mauldin, 82 Services are pending with Brown’s Funeral Service for Opal Mauldin, 82, Calera, who died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at her residence. ============== Durant Daily Democrat Tuesday, February 24, 2004 Opal Marie Mauldin, 82 A service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel for Opal Marie Mauldin, 82, who died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at her residence. The Rev. Fred Waldrep will officiate. Mauldin was born Jan.10, 1922, in Brandsville, Mo. to Benjamin and Ethel (McKinney) Harbeston. She attended school in Brandsville. Mauldin married Bert Pence Dec. 24, 1940, in West Plains, Mo., and dedicated her time to being a homemaker. Mauldin came to Calera from Thayer, Mo. in November 2003. She was of the Pentecostal faith and enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and she loved to play slot machines. She will be greatly missed. Mauldin was preceded in death by her parents; husband, in 1987; brothers Paul 'Jake' and Herbert Harbeston; and sister Rudy Jewell Harbeston. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Calera, with pallbearers Burl St. Clair, John St. Clair, Rocky Gentry, Aaron Crawford, Paul Gibson and Scott Gibson.
