Durant Daily Democrat Friday, January 30, 2004 Shirley Rose (Wallace) Mullins, 70 A service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, at Highland Cemetery Chapel, Durant, for Shirley Rose (Wallace) Mullins, 70, an Atoka area resident who passed away Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 28, 2004, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma, Durant. Rev. Tommy Peevyhouse will officiate. She was born June 15, 1933, to Jack Everett and Sarilda (Shipman) Wallace, in Oklahoma City. She married Dallas Mullins, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Mullins attended school at Centerview, near Prague, in Lincoln County. She was a veteran who served her country in the Army-WAC. She worked several years at the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C., in charge of job placement for Vietnam veterans. She was a former longtime Durant and Mead area resident. She later worked as RSVP Executive Director of Bryan County. She was a member of the Mead Baptist Church, charter member of the Women’s Memorial in Washington, D.C., Red Coat for the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Atoka County Chamber, member and officer of Atoka Elks Lodge. She loved life and enjoyed traveling. Preceding her in death were her parents Jack Everett and Sarilda Wallace and brothers John W. and Jack Everett Wallace, Jr. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with Wayne George, Lonnie Karr, Jerry Williams, Jerry Dowling, Billy Mickle, and Weldon Tucker serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Will Goodwin, Bill Sturch, Jim Dunegan, Tommy Thomas and Paul Buntz.
