Sunday, October 5, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Billy Ray Marr Sr., 70 A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Kemp Baptist Church for Billy Ray Marr Sr., 70, Achille, who died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. The Revs. Roger Speers and Mark Gunnels will officiate. He was born Feb. 12, 1933, in Dark Corners, to Jess and Edna (Eaton) Marr. He attended Dark Corners and Denison, Texas schools. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He married Thelma Jean "Jolly" Bond March 31, 1956, in Achille. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Achille for many years. Very active in the community, he served on the Achille school board 12 years and the Achille city council 10 years. He also started the first Little League team and the first Boy Scout troop in Achille. He had a commercial pilots license and loved to fly. An avid deer hunter, he loved to hunt with his family. He was a master Mason and member of Achille Masonic Lodge No. 454. His greatest pastime was the horse racing at Choctaw Bingo. He was preceded in death by his parents. Burial will be in Rosewood Cemetery, Achille, with Masonic graveside services conducted by Achille Masonic Lodge No. 454. Family hour is 2-3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
