All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Durant Daily Democrat Monday, August 11, 2003 James Humphrey Marshall III, 60 A graveside service was at 10 a.m. today at Jimtown Cemetery for James Humphrey, 'Jim' Marshall III, 60, Falconhead-Burneyville, who died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at his residence. The Rev. Tony Caro officiated. He was born July 23, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, to James Humphrey II and Frances (Mitchell) Marshall. He married Judith Ann Lawrence in Johnson City, Texas, in 1964. He had lived at Falconhead for the past nine years, previously living in Durant and Bokchito. He attended schools n Marfa, Texas, and Albuquerque, N.M. He attended high school at Hillcrest in north Dallas. He attended Schriner Military Institute in Kerrville, Texas, Southwest Texas State University, earned bachelor's and master's degrees in geography at the University of Oklahoma and received his administration certification at the University of Tulsa. He was the superintendent of Marietta schools for seven years. He was of the Christian faith. He was a compassionate and beautiful person who derived ever increasing joy from his family, whom he loved deeply. Inseparable from who he was, was his love of nature, astronomy, organic gardening, music and running. He was a deeply spiritual man who demonstrated in his professional and private life his awareness of God and good in everything and everyone. Among the dearest places to his heart wer the hgh deserts of west Texas and the family farm in Bokchito. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of the home; sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Alisa (Peden) Marshall, Jimtown; brother John Mitchell 'U.J.' Marshall, Marfa; grandson Winston Chandler Marshall; and nieces and nephews Lauren Michelle Armstrong and husband John, Erin Elizabeth Marshall, and Gregory Scott Marshall and wife Leslie. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Bennett, Frank Lornes, Tom Kimball, Charlie Roberts, Paul Riley, Dr. J.T. O'Connor and Chestney Faulkenberry.
