All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Memorial Park Cemetery--Muskogee Ok Durant Daily Democrat 4 Oct 2004 William Ronald "Ronnie" Morton, 62 William Ronald "Ronnie" Morton, 62, of Muskogee, died Thursday, September 30, 2004 at St. John Hospital in Tulsa. He was born February 19, 1942, in Bennington, Oklahoma, to Russell Anthony "Dick" and Thelma (Mooney) Morton. Ronnie grew up in Bennington where he was educated at Bennington schools. In 1967 he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southeastern State University in Durant, Oklahoma. That year he began his first teaching and coaching job in Smithville, Oklahoma. It was in Smithville where he met and married his life mate, Reba Eveline. Page Morton on June 7, 1968. Ronnie served in the U.S. Army in 1968 and 1969 during the Vietnam War. He taught and coached at Smithville High School until moving to Calvin High School in 1981 where he was a coach, teacher and principal. In 1987 he began teaching and coaching at Ft. Gibson High School until his retirement in 1997. Ronnie enjoyed his kids, grandkids and many sports including fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed just having a cup of coffee with his friends. He was a member of Timothy Baptist Church. Preceding Ronnie in death were his parents and brother, James Morton. He is survived by his wife, Reba of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald James "Ron" and Lisa Morton and their two children, Kayla Renee and Aubree Page all of Muskogee; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony E. and Christa Morton of Broken Arrow; two sisters, Velma Lee Metcalf of Ft. Worth and Rebecca Borchardt and her husband, Gary, of Quinlan, TX and several special brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Timothy Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Payne and Rev. Gilbert Forrest officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Varner, James Bailey, Kyle Varner, Steve Pollard, Richard Johnson and Wayne Plunkett. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Gilbert and Denny Boren.
