Sunday, October 26, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Barnita Jane Ohley, 81 Barnita Jane Ohley, 81, Arkansas City, Kan., died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center, Arkansas City. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. today at the Hawk's Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m., Monday at the Parker Cemetery. Hawks Funeral Home, Arkansas City, handled arrangements. ======== Sunday, November 2, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Barnita Jane Ohley, 81 Barnita Jane Ohley, 81, Arkansas City, Kan., died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center, Arkansas City. A recitation of the Holy Rosary was held Sunday, Oct. 26, and a graveside service Monday, Oct. 27, at Parker Cemetery. She was born April 30, 1922, in Seattle, Wash., the daughter of Kent and Stella Preshaw Brodnix. She graduated high school in Seattle. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy Dec. 4, 1942. She was discharged June 28, 1944, as an Aviation Machinist Mate 3rdrd Class. While stationed at Hutchinson, Kan., she married Willard Bruce Ohley, Jan. 8, 1944. The later moved to Arkansas City. She was head bookkeeper at the Union State Bank for many years, for 10 years she worked for the late John J. Williams, CPA, and later worked several years in Arkansas City for Meiers Accounting Service. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shelton Beaty American Legion Post and WAVES National. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on Oct. 8, 1992, and two brothers.
