All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Coleman Cemetery--Coleman OK Durant Daily Democrat Tolbert "Tiny" Owens, 49 A service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Folsom Freewill Baptist Church for Tolbert "Tiny" Owens, 49, Coleman, who died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. Mike Pannell, Mark McDaniel and Mike Horner will officiate. The son of Tolbert Eugene Owens Sr. and Wilma Jean (Rhodes), he was born Saturday, Oct. 8, 1955, in Durant. He married Recesa Powell Jan. 19, 2002, in Idabel. He graduated high school at Coleman High School and attended Cooke County Junior College. He was an outstanding athlete and played college basketball. He built Owens Construction Company from scratch where he, his father, and his son all worked together. He worked very hard and was the best at what he did. He loved his work dearly, working in construction for the past 26 years. He loved racehorses, his dogs, traveling and buying and selling stocks. Most of all he loved his mama's cooking. He was very devoted to his family and was a good husband, father and son. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Frances and Meloin Rhodes and Tab and Clara Owens. He is survived by his wife, of the home; parents, Coleman; son Blu Owens and Misty Gilbert, Coleman; daughter Crystal Owens, Durant; grandsons Cody and Dakota Owens, both of Coleman; step-daughter Christy Price, Bokchito; granddaughters Shianne McDaniel and Stormie Russell, both of Bokchito; sister Sherrie Owens, Coleman; aunts Denuel Johnston and husband Chip, Caney, Linda Miller, Coleman, Dorothy Rhodes, Fort Smith, Ark., Ruby Forester, Swink, Jo McCurry, Little Rock, Ark.; uncle George Carter, Amarillo, Texas; and special cousins Janie McCurry, Little Rock, Tina Eldridge, Coleman, Chris Rhodes, Cheyenne, Ricky Miller, Coleman, Karen Bell, Nara Vista, N.M., Deborah Bartlett, Fort Smith; and a host of other relatives who loved him dearly. Interment will be in Coleman Cemetery with Blu Owens, Buckey Rhodes, David Russell, Rick Miller, Gary Whitmire, Billy Powell, Floyd White, Johnny Richardson, Jack Hotenpillar and Billy Nelson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Earl White, Frank Forman, Ralph Cowart, Mark Mueller and Weldon O'dell. Family hour is from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
