All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Grace Petty, 86 Durant Daily Democrat June 25, 2003 A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bennington Cemetery for Grace Petty, 86, Bennington, who died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. The Rev. Charles Williams will officiate. She was born Dec. 22, 1916, in Ben Wheeler, Texas, to Annie Mae (Gilbert) and William Joshua Turner. She attended schools in the Ben Wheeler area. She married James M. "Babe" Petty Feb. 25, 1956, in Ardmore. She was a housewife who loved being with her family. She enjoyed helping her husband in the raising of cattle until his death in 1999. Her grandchildren remember her liking to take walks with them. She loved to cook for her grandchildren. She really enjoyed going to her church. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bokchito. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1999; son Jerry Johnson; sister Willie Flecher and brother Shelby Turner. She is survived by her daughter Janet Nicholas and husband Jimme, Bennington; sister Hazel Springer, Canton, Texas; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends. Burial will be in Bennington Cemetery with Larry Nicholas, Tommy Nicholas, Greg Korioth, Patrick Bully, Charles Robinson and William McGee serving as pallbearers. Family hour will be 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
