Perkins, 79, Durant, who died today at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas. ============= Friday, October 31, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Elvin Maynard Perkins, 79 A service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Abundant Life Temple for Elvin Maynard Perkins, 79, Durant, who died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas. The Rev. Jim Zenger will officiate. He was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Lane, to Jasper Newton and Margaret Bell (Miller) Perkins. He attended school in Roberta. He married Minnie Lee Higgins May 26, 1963. He worked in construction all his life. Many of the homes in Durant are his handiwork. He owned his own business and his latest construction job is still is in progress. He was building the new Assembly of God Church on 49th in Durant. He also loved to fish and hunt when he found time. He was a member of Abundant Life Temple, Durant. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parent, son Jerry Perkins, daughter Kim McCarthy, and sisters Oleta Perkins, Clara Bradford, Margaret Cole and Ruth Prough. Burial will be in Silo Cemetery with pallbearers Jim Thorpe, Gary Hammel, Gary Phelps, John Decker, Gerald Mullens, Denny Houx and Roger McCoy. Honorary pallbearers are Stanley Perkins and J. C. Grider. Family hour is 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
