Durant Daily Democrat Thursday, January 29, 2004 Lester Elonzo Roberts, 79 Services are pending with Brown’s Funeral Service for Lester Elonzo Roberts, 79, Broken Bow, who died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004. ========== Durant Daily Democrat Friday, January 30, 2004 Lester Elonzo Roberts, 79 A service was at 10 a.m. today at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel for Lester Elonzo Roberts, 79, Broken Bow, who died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Broken Bow Nursing Home. The Rev. Lee Armstrong officiated. Elonzo was born Aug. 16, 1924, in Durant, to Enoch Carter Roberts and Lou Elsie Williams. He lived in Oklahoma all of his life and attended school at Pleasant Hill. Elonzo married Margaret Blanche Morgan Nov. 12, 1948, in Sherman, Texas. He was the leadman with the section gang for TO&E Railway until his retirement in 1989. Elonzo enjoyed gardening, fishing, and entertaining people by telling them stories, but he enjoyed his family and spending time with them the most. He was of the Baptist faith and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Boyd Paul Roberts, Dec. 29, 1993. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Durant, with Brad Bunn, Dustin Hamlin, Jeremy Perry, Bryan Jackman, Stacey Wood, and Joshua Roberts serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Terry Morgan, Colton Roberts and Brandon Roberts.
