All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Highland Cemetery--Durant OK Durant Daily Democrat 22 Mar 2005 Lynwood Rowland, 83 A service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Dalton-Holmes Funeral Chapel for Lynwood Rowland, 83, Durant, who died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. David Hornsby will officiate. He was born Tuesday, June 21, 1921, in Mead to John Rowland and Ruby (Moore) Rowland. He married Jewel Tucker Dec. 20, 1947, in Denison, Texas. He attended Mead School and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in Vietnam from 1941 to 1944. His life was devoted to working in many areas of the cattle business: buying, selling and hauling, along with owning and operating Tucker's Slaughter House. His passions were his family and cattle business, in which he was still actively involved. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Charles Rowland; sisters Cassie Willis, Jewel Calhoun and Lorene McClendon; and his in-laws Dudley and Ruby Tucker. He is survived by his wife of the home; sons Dudley Rowland and wife Winona, Mead, Tommy Rowland and wife Brenda, Mead, and Johnny Rowland and wife Bonnie, Durant; daughters Judy Goggans and husband Duane, Colbert, and Bernice Aplin and husband Phillip, Durant; brother Chester Rowland and wife Lillian, Dallas, Texas; sister Bernice Hutson, Durant; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with pallbearers Gerald Lemmus, Johnny Wallace, Bob Cooper, Slick Daniels, Charley Cates and Skip Dameron. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles James, George Hornsby, Jerry Calhoun, C.B. Gayle, Wesley Russell, Butch Tucker, Johnny Tucker, Junior Tucker and David Webb. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at dhfh@communicomm.com.
