Durant Daily Democrat Thursday, December 11, 2003 Alvin Lee Shipman, 73 Services are pending with Coffey-Murray Funeral Home for Alvin Lee Shipman, 73, Durant, who died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 203, at his residence. =========== Durant Daily Democrat Sunday, December 14, 2003 Alvin Lee Shipman, 73 A service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Coffey-Murray Funeral Chapel for Alvin Lee Shipman, 73, Durant, who died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at his residence. The Rev. Dan McLemore will officiate. The son of James David and Lela Kate (Venable) Shipman, he was born Sunday, April 30, 1930, in Durant. Shipman was a yardman for Kaiser Refactories. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, camping and country music. He married Jean Harris Aug. 26, 1961, in Washoe County, Nev. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife on Oct. 2, 1999, brothers Blane Shipman in 1959 and Lane Shipman in 2003. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Kenefic, with brothers serving as pallbearers. VFW Post No. 3916 will conduct a military graveside service. Family hour is 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
