Shastid, 71, Bennington, who passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, in Dallas, Texas. =========== Sunday, October 19, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Lloyd D. Shastid, 71 A service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bennington First Baptist Church for Lloyd D. Shastid, 71, Bennington, who died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003 at Dallas V.A. Hospital in Dallas, Texas. The Rev. W. R. Starnes will officiate. The son of Andrew Jackson and Nellie (Goad) Shastid, he was born Saturday, Sept. 17, 1932, in Wade. Shastid was a carpenter, of the Baptist faith and loved fishing, hunting and gardening. He just loved being outdoors. His greatest joy was being with his family. VFW Post No. 3916 will perform military graveside rites. He married Lenora Mae Gilbert Oct. 29, 1955, in Hollis. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, brothers Doyle Lee, Jack and Billy Wendell Shastid, and sisters Louise Burns and Ruby Faye Ticknor. Burial will be in Bennington Cemetery with Ricky Shastid, Randy Shastid, Donald Shastid, Darrin Shastid, Michael David Geiger and Melvin Dosh serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Stanley Timmons and Frank Milby. Family hour is 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
