Durant Daily Democrat Friday, September 6, 2004 Catherine (Taylor) Sexton, 78 Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Brown’s Funeral Chapel, Atoka, for Catherine (Taylor) Sexton, 78, a longtime Caney/Atoka-area resident, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at the Atoka Memorial Hospital. The Rev. David Wilson officiate, with Rev. Anita Phillips and Lee Watkins assisting. She was born Dec. 28, 1925, in Finley to Archibald and Lena (Noah) Taylor. She attended the Goodland Indian School in Hugo, and married Daniel Sexton Aug 7. 1945, in Antlers. During World War II, she worked as a rivet girl, building aircraft at Douglas Field, now known as Tinker Air Force Base. She was a housewife and homemaker, along with helping her husband, Dan in the ministry. She was a longtime member of the Pine Grove Indian Methodist Church, Lane. She was preceded in death by her husband; great-granddaughter Catherine Fixico; parents; and sister Rhoda Notah. Burial was in Buffalo Creek Cemetery with pallbearers were Phillip Reitz, Antonio Martinez, Steven Sexton, Brittany Mata, Hugo Maturino, David Greenwood and Marco Maturino. Honorary pallbearers were Isaac Sexton, Josh Sexton, Tim Sexton, Lole Mata and Johnny Perry.
