Survivors omitted. Tuesday, November 4, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Mamie L. Stafford, 96 A service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Caney Baptist Church for Mamie L. Stafford, 96, Caney, who died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma. The Revs. Glen Thomason and Harold Brewer will officiate. She was born July 6, 1907, in Grayson County, Texas, to Robert and Holly (Monroe) Carson. She attended school in Mead and was a longtime member of the Holiness Pentecostal Church in Caney. She married John Z. Stafford Nov. 24, 1922, in Dark Corners. She was a homemaker and lived in Bokchito for many years prior to moving to Caney in 1964. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; parents; son Bunk Stafford; daughters Lois Mayberry and Hazel Merriman; brothers Andrew, Wiley and Arie Carson, and sisters Tish Buford, Hattie Hottinger and Lou Brakett. Family hour is 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Knob Hill Cemetery, near Kingston in Marshall County, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
