Durant Daily Democrat Monday, December 29, 2003 Clete Self, 95 Services are pending with Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home for Clete Self, 95, Durant, who died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at his residence. =========== Durant Daily Democrat Tuesday, December 30, 2003 Robert Cleatus ‘Cleat’ Self A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Calvary Baptist Church for Cleat Self, who died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at his residence. Rev. Darel Bunch, Rev. Bill Robinson and Skip Robinson will officiate. The son of Robert F. ‘Bob’ and Annie Alba (Foster) Self, he was born near Roberta, March 18,1908. He married Bonnie Lou Campbell Sept. 13, 1947, at the Nazarene Parsonage in Durant, with the Rev. W. T. White officiating. Preceding him in death were his wife; parents; brothers Claude Self, H. L. ‘Hoot’ Self and Winfred Gay Self; sisters Myron Robinson, Nadine Washburn, Mavis Robinson and Winnie Mae Thompson; niece Donna Robinson Spencer, and nephew H L ‘Hootie’ Self. A 1930 graduate of Durant High School, he was a rancher/stockman who served in the United States Air Force from 1942-1945 and as County Clerk of Bryan County from 1965-1969. He was County Commissioner of District No. 2 from 1979-1983. He was a charter member of the Durant Round Up Club and member of Achille Masonic Lodge No. 454. He professed faith in Christ May 8, 1927, and lived out that profession with 44 years of perfect attendance in Sunday School (1954-1999). Pallbearers will be James Lynn, Dean Portman, Thomas Phipps, Alvin Davis, Vernon Armstrong and Darrell Hearn. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult I Sunday School Department of Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Family hour will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
