Durant Daily Democrat Thursday, December 18, 2003 Patricia Ruth (Whitfield) Smith A service will be at 2 p.m., Friday at Brown's Funeral Chapel, Atoka, for Patricia Ruth (Whitfield) Smith, 56, Atoka County, who died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at the Cancer Treatment Center, Tulsa. The Rev. Terry Vaughn will officiate. She was born Sept. 22, 1947, in Denison, Texas, to James Buford and Mary Ruth (Ellington) Whitfield. She attended school in Denison and Dallas, Texas, and Grayson County Community College. She attended Christ for the Nations, Dallas and language school to learn Spanish. She married William E. Smith, Jan. 18, 1974, at Southmayd, Texas. She worked for McLeod Honor Farm as an administrative assistant, and later worked a number of years for the Department of Human Services in the Atoka juvenile office. She was a member of Living Waters Church, Antlers, and an ordained minister. She helped in prison ministry with her husband, ‘Smitty.' She was preceded in death by her parents, and mother- and father-in-law Edgar and Irene Smith. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Durant with pallbearers Alex Malone, Todd Horn, Mark McMurray, Jeff Smith, Lionel Winters and Bill Etchison. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Inglis, Steve Pfaff, Fred Lowry, Bob Smith and Michael Inglis. Family night is 6-8 p.m tonight.
