Adell Josephine Smith

Adell Josephine Smith passed away on Monday, Dec. 27, at the age of 91. 
She was born Dec. 20, 1913, in San Angelo, Texas, to Trox Burleson and 
Lena Eschberger Burleson. Adell married W.B. Smith on Oct. 15, 1931, and 
their marriage was blessed with four children. She was a devoted wife, 
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She 
spent endless hours working in her garden and in the yard. She could often 
be seen with her hat on working outside. Adell was a longtime member of 
the First Baptist Church in Mason, Texas.

Adell is survived by three children: Ronnie Smith and wife Kay, of 
Pleasanton, Texas, Pat Crouch and husband R.L., of Mason, Texas, and 
Connie Adams and husband Bennie C. of Albany. She is also survived by a 
brother, Clifton Burleson of Houston, Texas; sisters Alene Lippe and Ruth 
Lippe, both of Odessa, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 
and six great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces and 
nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, W. B. Smith, in 1979; a 
daughter, Willene Clark, in 1991; and a brother, Roy Burleson.

Serving as pallbearers are Ricky Jacoby, Robert Clark, Jay Smith, Tim 
Adams, Bobby Scantlin and Donnie Martin.

Funeral services were today at the First Baptist Church in Mason. 
Interment followed in the Gooch Cemetery.
